LETI'S RHINO CASTLE

This week for my first assignment in OBDF 210, I made a 3d Castle in Rhino.

OH BOY, this project was such an informative review of what I learned in OBDF 110. I took inspiration from European castles and the school Hogwarts from Harry Potter. I had so many ideas in my head and I needed to start with sketches first to organize my thoughts.

I decided at the beginning I wanted to have a simple style archway which lead me to repeat that design in many aspects of the castle's windows, doors and other features.

Then I started to work on the blueprint of the Castle.

I decided that building the towers would be a good start because it was one of the trickier design elements that I wanted to create in the castle.

I found this part to be very tricky just because Booleanunite was not working in my favor. I also had “snap to pixels” selected, which was useful when building the blueprints but caused a lot of problems when trying to combine shapes.  After a couple of frustrating minutes, I remembered that sometimes boolean union doesn't work then you have to just move the object slightly to united.

And then I moved on to adding more details into individual towers like balconies windows doors and decorative sculptures

Balconies

I placed the towers onto my blueprint to get a rough idea of what the castle was going to look like.

I moved on to building the main body of the building.

I hid all the towers to help declutter while building this part.

I started using shapes to cut out doors, windows and other details on the main body of the building using Boolean Difference.

There is a lot of trial and error in this project. Once I got over that hump and pulled out my notebook and played around with a lot of the actions I started to get very comfortable with Rhino again. I am happy with the results of the details in the castle. I used the boolean difference tool a lot when making these details.

In the end, it looks like a mini Harry Potter castle.

SURFACE DESIGN STUDY

So, this project was time-consuming and very challenging for me. After finishing this project, I am more confident in problem-solving in rhino.  10 examples of surface design ( I put all the photos together so it would be easier to look at in rhino ) I decided early on that I wanted the design to have a pattern on each side so that when rotated and copied, the pattern will have different reflections in it.         Then I went into rhino and started out with basic shapes before using arrays.  I selected this shape because I really like the dimensional attributes that came with the design. Using different values, you can play with your eyes to make things appear either in the foreground or background It took me a while with this shape, but I slowly found a pattern in the array tool to make it easier to edit. The shape was inspired by the textures that weave between knitted sweaters.    I used the mirror tool to replicate the shape over the to...

3D-PRINTED CHESS SET

These are my  sketches everyone told me in the peer-to-peer to go with the indigenous one because it will be more challenging and unique. A lot of people help me come up with how to print the objects. like, putting some of the objects on its side to print to make it easy on me later. The Pawn is a Cree drum The Bishop is a hunting arrow The Rook is a Teepee The Knight is a jingle dancer The Queen is a dream catcher The king is a bison this is the e ntire set Mocked up on a chessboard time lapse of of the printing process final 3D prints

HD RENDERS AND EXPLODED VIEW

For this assignment we had to reverse engineer an object in rhino 7. we had to take apart the object and rebuild it again in the program using exact measurements. I found this assignment to be very hard for me.  I struggled to get the right curvature as well as size for the object because everything was bevelled. I still think this object was the wrong choice for this project because it has a lot of missing pieces and I struggled to find some of them so I couldn’t remodel them in the program. through this process, I learned a lot about rhino. when I was struggling to rebuild certain pieces, I found YouTube and Google to be great sources to help me figure out how to model.  Thank you
